Quote IMPORTANT TL;DR: Every single skill from every single character/build was individually tweaked and tested for both DPS, Mana usage, AG usage (mastery) and balanced accordingly. There were 5 different periods (level + gear) in terms of DPS that were tested for each skill, AoE being done on real spots while ST being done on different single-target monsters across levels. While the overall gap in terms of damage is pretty small between characters, there are some characters/builds that are a bit better at what they do either in some periods or across the board. To make the "TOP" in each period, we created a bunch of tools to help us differentiate the chars, for example: - Utility Score (for each build/class, what utility they have in PvE, PvP, mobility, etc.), - Cost Efficiency Score (how much they need to invest to reach that damage compared to other characters). Example: GC has lowest utility score (nothing useful in its kit outside of small utility in Dark Plasma for PvP damage during kiting) while also having the highest Cost Efficiency Score (GC always will need 2x mastery weapons +15 to reach its potential) - so it has usually (with exceptions) the biggest DPS between chars on the ideal conditions/gear, to make up for its big minuses. Quote IMPORTANT TL;DR: All characters have been tweaked & tested on their % Elemental Damage in order to have an overall balance. (example: SM may have 80% ELE DMG while GL may have 130% ELE DMG). Due to the fact that there's no "elemental damage" based on skill, and it is only at the character level (all skills having the same elemental damage), there are some bigger differences between skills (based on their speed). Some characters have way more Elemental DPS on their ST skills while having a way lower Elemental DPS on their AoE skills, and vice-versa. The overall PvE Elemental Damage can be anywhere between 10% and 40% of the normal damage, with few exceptions at both ends. Also, all monsters in the game have been tweaked in terms of their ELE stats. Note: In terms of Elemental Damage of the monsters, you will have to progress with your Elemental Defense (from all possible sources) accordingly if you want to use DMG Pentagrams (or being limited to stay VS specific element only), or you can have an easier time in a slower progression by using DEF Pentagrams.
